Watergate (Pistachio) Cake

      1     box     white cake mix (approx. 18 oz)
      1     cup     vegetable oil (canola or your choice)
      1     pkg     instant pistachio pudding mix (3.4 oz)
      3             large eggs
      8     oz      lemon-lime soda (such as 7-up or Sprite)
      1     cup     chopped nuts (almonds or pecans)


Frosting

      1     pkg     instant pistachio pudding mix (3.4 oz)
  1 1/2     cup     milk
      8     oz      Cool Whip (thawed in refrigerator for 4 hours)


Preheat oven to 350.  Grease bottom of 9-by-13-inch baking pan
(or 2 8-inch or 9-inch round pans).

Combine cake mix, oil, pudding mix, eggs, lemon-lime soda, chopped
nuts and beat for about 4 minutes.  Pour mixture into pan and bake
at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes.  Check after 30 minutes.  Bake until a
toothpick or cake tester comes out clean.

If using round pans, cool for 5 to 10 minutes, then remove from pans
to cake rack to cool completely.  For 9-by-13 inch pan, cool in pan
completely.

To make frosting, beat pudding and milk for 2 minutes, then fold in
cool whip.  Frost cake and keep refrigerated.
